Every guide, comparison, and tutorial on this site is researched and written by our editorial team based on hands-on testing.
Why we exist
OpenAI ships fast. Models change, prices change, features get renamed, and the official documentation lags behind real-world usage. ChatAI Guide is the layer between the OpenAI announcement and the person trying to do something useful with it — whether that is choosing the right model, understanding a billing change, or learning a workflow that saves an afternoon.
We write for humans, not for ranking algorithms. That means short paragraphs, real examples, screenshots when they help, and a willingness to say “we do not know yet” when something is unclear.
How we work
- Hands-on testing. Every model and feature we cover is tested by our team in the actual product or API before we publish. Pricing, latency, and capability claims are verified against the source.
- Source-linked. When we cite OpenAI documentation, pricing pages, or release notes, we link directly to the canonical source. When sources contradict each other, we flag it.
- Updated continuously. Articles carry a published and last-updated date. When OpenAI changes something material — price, default model, deprecation — we update the article and bump the modified date.
- No paid placements. We do not accept sponsored content, paid reviews, or affiliate kickbacks for OpenAI products. We may run display advertising (clearly labelled) and may use disclosed affiliate links for unrelated tooling, but our editorial coverage is never for sale.
Editorial independence
OpenAI does not see our articles before publication. They do not pay us, brief us, or have any input into editorial direction. Critical coverage — pricing complaints, capability regressions, policy changes that affect users — is part of the job and we publish it without seeking approval.
